CTO, Technical Director & Tools Engineer
I started Radical Forge in 2017 with Bruce Slater out of Teesside Launchpad. Since then I've transitioned from a Gameplay Programmer to Technical Director in 2018 to CTO in 2020. Primarily I now support the technical infrastructure of over 30 members of staff across the UK and Europe to function on projects involving Zenimax Online Studios, Flix Interactive and Double 11, however I have also had a hand in porting and developing various projects along the way which can be seen below.
From 2018 to 2019 I was a Part Time Lecturer at Teesside University primarily based in Games Design to assist in the development of students knowledge of in-engine practices (Unreal Engine 4). I have also assisted on the Games Design Masters Course as a tutor on the Masters Final Project.
Between 2018 and 2020 I developed and lead the "Get Started With: Games Design" course on behalf of RAW Digital Training, The Princes Trust and Durham Works. The goal of the 1 week course that was delivered accross the North East of England sought to inform young adults about the UK games industry and what steps they can take should they wish to start a carear in games. They also got to create a basic game prototype throughout the course of the week.
Throughout my short time in industry I've participated as a mentor in the Limit Break programme for underrepresented people in games focused specifically in junior programmers since 2020. I have also participated in a variety of events as a speaker.
Here's a selection of projects that I'm allowed to talk about, that I've had a hand in developing / porting.
There are over 10+ more that I can't talk about publicly.
